His down-to-earth attitude provides almost instant connections with his audience.”Joel Willden is one of six board members at Yellow Checker Star Transportation and NewCab in Las Vegas, Nevada. These two taxi fleets make up one of the largest taxicab fleets in the U.S. with more than 1,900 drivers.

Joel shares his unique insight of the transformation of the cab industry, and how his company has had to adapt and adjust to what has become a highly competitive industry with the recent introduction of major disruptors like Uber and LYFT. A strong belief in servant leadership has allowed Joel to lead his company through turbulent times by empowering those around him.  Faith, perspective and attitude all have the power to bring us up out of the most trying of circumstances and as we patiently endure, character is formed.

Joel is the founder of #WeLOVELasVegas, a community outreach program. This program was started by asking one question: “What would it look like to be outrageously generous in the face of declining revenue?” According to Joel, the mission of that outreach program is to “Leverage what we have to intentionally meet the needs of the community. Profits should not dictate a company’s generosity.”

They have since partnered with several strategic community organizations. Serving the community with intentionality and love, YCS and NewCab have fed and clothed the homeless, donated vehicles to single mothers seeking refuge in local women’s shelters, supported local and national veteran organizations, and assisted in locating missing children vulnerable to exploitation and trafficking.

If there is one word to describe Joel, it would be authentic. He is who he is. He loves Jesus, his wife and kids, family and friends, his company and community. His life story and how God transformed him from an addict to a business owner is truly inspiring.
